We all remember the Golden Miller. The horse saved a coach operator in London that was on the verge of bankruptcy and restored the man back to its glory. It was truly a magnificent moment, and it will be remembered as part of the Cheltenham Gold Cup history for sure.
Golden Miller is also the only horse who managed to win the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup – two of the best horse races in the world filled with top horses and serious trophy contenders – in the same year. This puts Golden Miller in the history of world horse racing for sure, noting him as one of the best horses ever.
Another interesting wins was made by Dawn Run, winning both the Champion Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1986. Dawn Run is the only horse who has ever done this, proving his quality as top stallion and noting his name in the history of world as well as UK horse racing.
Michael Dickinson is noted to be the most successful trainer in the history of Cheltenham Gold Cup. Back in 1983, he successfully trained Bregawn and led the horse to Cheltenham Gold Cup victory. What’s impressive about the year was that the horse placing second, third, fourth, and fifth on the 1983 Cheltenham Gold Cup was also from Dickinson’s stable; it was a superb achievement indeed.
